Kim Martin

I've lived in York, Pennsylvania my entire life as have the ten generations before me. My husband, Keith and I have been married 35 years and have three grown children who have fledged the nest.
One of our sons had dyspraxia which showed in a significant speech delay. After a few years of speech therapy, he made no progress. An occupational therapist diagnosed sensory issues and started treating him with movement, swinging and tactile experiences. He immediately started to make progress!
Art engages the brain in a similar way. We were all born creative. Just hand a kindergartener a pack of crayons! Somewhere in life something or someone talked many of us out of creating. Whether a senior with dementia, a child with autism, or a veteran with PTSD there is a tremendous feeling of success in the reemergence of that creativity. It has been a joy to see those who show no "light" in their being feel a beautiful sense of accomplishment and beam with light and joy!
